Corporate Structure

GK Pacific Limited is part of the Giant Kingdom Group being a wholly-owned subsidiary of Giant Kingdom Holdings Sdn. Bhd.. While the holding company is based in Malaysia, the operating presence of GK Pacific Limited is located in Papua New Guinea. Obviously, certain administrative ties like finance and consolidated accounting are maintained with the holding company.

Commercial Activities

The Papuan capital and principal town is Port Moresby, however, the Company’s base of operations is in Momase, a region about 700km away to the north-west. This is because most of the suppliers of the products that the Company deals in are located at Momase area. GK Pacific Limited receives orders from around the world especially China and these are sourced from the areas around Momase region or occasionally from suppliers in Singapore. Where the products ordered are not available from the Momase and nearby lowland hills and montane regions, they are sometimes acquired from Suriname. Most business activity is centered around the timber-source region but visits by company staff have of course to be made to the capital from time to time to meet with government departments relating to the timber trade.

The products are taken from the suppliers’ stockyards, sorted according to required specifications, and shipped to the customers from the port serving the Momase district. To execute its operations efficiently, the Company has engaged the services of an experienced agent with long-established expertise in the international field. His functions include field-inspection to ensure that the species, grade, and conditions of the material received from suppliers are in accordance with order-specifications. The hiring of container specialized space in the transporting ships, the carriage of the products to the port, and all the other logistics elements also fall within the agent’s responsibilities.

Another important element in the agent’s role is the ensuring of quality in the manufacture of the timber by-products and seeing that all necessary quality-control measures are in place and adhere to.

Business Products

Though involved in the timber industry, GK Pacific Limited. does not carry out any logging activities at all. Its business is focused on logs, which is trees that have been felled, or the by-products manufactured from timber. The logs themselves come from various species. Refined and Sanitized Woods need to be phyto-sanitized, fumigated, and graded, resulting in timber by-products of sawn-timber, veneer, and plywood.

Our products are of particular importance for the following purposes:
  • Construction in areas of extreme weather conditions and fluctuations
  • Restoration work of ancient construction and world heritage site
  • High-standard furniture and flooring
  • Constant heavy-stress and repeated usage like railway sleepers
